Darien Library unequivocally condemns the acts of violence, harassment, and discrimination against Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islanders that have occurred across the country over the past year. We stand in solidarity with our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) neighbors here in Darien and across the state and nation.
Our Library will continue to advance the causes of equity, diversity, and inclusion in our collections, events, and outreach; support dialogue within the local community; and offer education and resources to combat dangerous stereotypes and bias. We encourage our members to refer to the Asian Pacific American Librarians’ Association’s 2021 COVID-19 anti-xenophobia resources and its recent Statement Against Anti-Asian Violence.
In addition, we recommend the following resources and booklists for support, further learning, and deeper reflection.
