Shakespeare On The Sound is coming soon! Dive into this year's play, As You Like It with Shakespeare on the Sound education director and actor Nick Urda, and president of the board and Shakespeare teacher John Love. They will guide you through As You Like It and, in an interactive presentation, show you why they consider Rosalind to be Shakespeare's greatest heroine and his play, As You Like It, his most interesting comedy. “Do you not know I am a woman? When I think I must speak.”
In As You Like It, Shakespeare's version of Into The Woods, we have not two, not three, but four romantically challenged couples wandering the forest of Arden. Without Rosalind, they would never find each other, much less true love. Shakespeare wrote As You Like It at the peak of his career, right before Twelfth Night and Hamlet, and it has been an audience favorite ever since. Here's another fun fact: In Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It, the heroine Rosalind has more lines than any other female character in all of Shakespeare: more lines than Cleopatra or Juliet, more than twice as many lines as Lady Macbeth.
Join in this interactive presentation, celebrating Shakespeare on the Sound's 27th annual summer production, in Rowayton's Pinkney Park, June 14th through July 2nd.
