Among the things you will learn in this program:

  • how to make sure your cause is really “charitable”
  • the two types of not-for-profit organization, and the differences between them
  • how to put together your nonprofit board of directors and management team
  • how to find wealthy donors and gain their support and trust
  • how to form a not-for-profit corporation or limited liability company (LLC)
  • how to write applications for government grants
  • how to raise funds for your non-for-profit organization
  • how to apply for tax-exempt (section 501C3) status from the IRS and the State of Connecticut
  • how to market and promote your not-for-profit activities
  • the three keys to success in a not-for-profit organization
  • how to find lawyers and accountants to help you with the paperwork
  • learn about Connecticut government agencies that support not-for-profit organizations, and how to deal with them
