We are happy to partner with the Ferguson Library’s US passport center to host walk-in passport clinics at Darien Library. The Ferguson Passport Agents can help patrons:

  • Process U.S. passport applications
  • Guide those who are processing renewals for adults
  • Take passport photos
  • Provide all forms
  • Make copies of all documents
  • Credit card and cash processing

 

Things to Know

Walk-in appointments only.

All applicants must appear in person including children. 

 

Passport Requirements

These are the requirements to apply for a US passport: 

Adults (Ages 16 and older): 

  • 1 passport photo (bring your own or this service is available for $16)
  • Original birth certificate (with raised seal, naturalization certificate, or previous passport if renewing)
  • Social security card
  • Valid state issued Identification (front and back) or passport (U.S. OR foreign)
  • If you have an out-of-state driver’s license other than Connecticut, must submit a second form of ID
  • Personal bank check or money order (no cash or credit card is accepted for The US Department of State)
  • Proof of name change (marriage certificate, court order, or divorce decree)

Ages 16-17: 

  • 1 passport photo (bring your own or this service is available for $16)
  • Original birth certificate (with raised seal, naturalization certificate, or previous passport if renewing)
  • Social security card
  • Bring an identification card (Learner’s permit, Driver’s license, State ID, or school ID front and back), and one parent/guardian to identify you.
  • Personal bank check or money order (no cash or credit card is accepted for The U.S. Department of State)

Children (Ages 15 and younger): 

  • 1 passport photo (bring your own or this service is available for $16)
  • Original long birth certificate showing parents’ name with a raised seal and old passport if renewing, or naturalization certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Both parents/legal guardians must be present or submit a notarized written consent statement by the non-appearing parent with a copy of his or her driver’s license, front and back.
  • Personal bank check or money order (no cash or credit card is accepted by the U.S. Department of State)

 

Passport Processing Timeline

  • Expedited: 2-3 weeks
  • Routine: 4-6 weeks


Payment Information

Please be aware that the payment to The U.S. Department of State, for the passport book or card, must be made with a check or money order. The payment for processing and pictures to Ferguson Library and can only be paid cash, debit, or credit card.

There are separate charges for the application, photo, and processing fees.

 

Passport Book Fees: 

  • Adult (Age 16 and older): $130.00
  • Children (Age 15 and younger): $100.00
  • Expedited fee: $60.00
  • Expedited Shipping: $21.36
  • Only a check or money order is accepted for the U.S. Department State application. Must have a separate payment for each applicant.  

Passport Card Fees: 

  • Adult (16 and older): $30.00
  • Children (15 and younger): $16.00
  • Only a check or money order is accepted for the U.S. Department State application. Must have a separate payment for each applicant.
  • Passport cards can be used for entry at U.S. land and seaports from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

  • Only a check or money order is accepted for the U.S. Department State application. Must have a separate payment for each applicant.

Passport Services Fees: 

  • Processing Fee only: $35.00
  • Photos: $16.00 per set 

  • Credit or debit card, or cash is accepted for the Ferguson Library's processing and photo fees.

 

Need to Know

Reminder: Daytime Parking

During the day, parking is available in Darien Library's parking lot. If the lot is full, there may be street parking available on Thorndal Circle. 

Library patrons may not park in the Nielsen or Michael Joseph's parking lots; violators will be towed.
