Darien Library presents a new weekly program: Monday Night at the Movies!
This week we are showing "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On".
This animated film tells the story of Marcel, a too-cute-for-words one-inch tall shell who lives with his shell grandmother, Connie. While there used to be a whole community of shell relatives, there is now only Marcel and Connie. The two are discovered by a documentary filmmaker who turns their search for long lost family viral. Poignant, profound, heartwarming, hilarious...all descriptions of this wonderful movie that is a must see on your personal film list. The film is nominated for 32 cinematic awards, including one for Best Motion Picture, Animated, for the upcoming Golden Globes in 2023. Originally a series of short films, the Marcel the Shell With Shoes On shorts were directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp and written by Jenny Slate, and last we looked, had 33 million views!
