Tick-borne diseases are a major public health concern for Connecticut residents. Darien Library and the Darien Health Department welcome Goudarz Molaei, PhD. who will discuss tick concerns in detail. Dr. Goudarz is a scientist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES), and conducts research and directs the Tick and Tick-borne Disease Surveillance Program (aka Tick Testing Laboratory). He will discuss native and invasive tick biology, infection status, the risk associated with tick bites, and what actions you can take to prevent illness for you and your family, including pets!

About the Presenter

Dr. Goudarz Molaei is a Research Scientist and Director of Passive Tick Surveillance and Testing Program at the CAES. He has conducted research on the role of ticks and mosquitoes in transmission of human disease-causing pathogens in collaboration with CDC and WHO (World Health Organization). He has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals, and his research on the role of mosquitoes and birds in transmission and amplification of West Nile virus was recognized among the top 100 discoveries in 2005.

Reminder: Daytime Parking

During the day, parking is available in Darien Library's parking lot. If the lot is full, there may be street parking available on Thorndal Circle. 

Library patrons may not park in the Nielsen or Michael Joseph's parking lots; violators will be towed.
