She also made days she knew were important for us a big deal. I may not remember a handful of birthdays, but I remember studying really hard for an important test and waking up the morning of the test to an inspiring breakfast spread that my mom made with a good luck charm and note. I don’t remember the test (or, truthfully, even the subject) but I remember the breakfast and the comforting feeling that the work I did was seen and appreciated, and that there was someone who was rooting for me.”
