Event Details
Darien Library and Barrett Bookstore welcome author, Mariah Fredericks, who will discuss her newly released novel, The Wharton Plot, along with her 2022 published book, The Lindbergh Nanny. Join Mariah as she delves into her writing process and how she creates novels based on true crime. She will discuss topics such as the ethics of using historical figures as characters, where one draws the line between fact and fiction, and discuss why some crimes live on in our collective memory, while others, famous in their day, are simply forgotten.
The Wharton Plot is inspired by a true story. The novel follows Edith Wharton through the fading years of the Gilded Age in a city she once loved so well, telling a taut tale of fame, love, and murder, as she becomes obsessed with solving a crime.
The Lindbergh Nanny is a powerful and compelling novel about America’s most high-profile kidnapping, written from the perspective of the woman who found herself at the center of this heinous crime.
