Event Details
The Darien High School Class of 1973 presents an art exhibit, "2nd Harvest," now on view in the Library's gallery (located on the Lower Level) through September 15.
The show features the diverse talents of 16 individual members of the class, all of whom grew up in Darien, and who were educated in the Darien public school system during the '60s and early '70s.
The exhibit includes paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media artwork, hand-blown glass, stained glass, crochet, and publications. Many of the artists have maintained lifelong friendships, greatly enhanced these days by the existence of social media. Like many high school graduates, they found themselves dispersed around the globe.
The exhibit coincides with their 50th-year high school reunion. The coordinators of the event are Jim Hett and Helen Obermeyer Simmons.
The Artists
Participants hail from Hong Kong and Juneau, Alaska and numerous locations scattered about the country. Participating Darien residents will be William Frate, Jim Hett, Suzanne Papson, and Lynn Stitzel Tiano. Additional artists exhibiting their work are Barbara Bohrer, Marty Coleman, Tricia Flock Nelson, Doug Harlocker, Debbie Davis Ivanov, Lindsay McGrath, Peter Ridabock, William Rogers, Barbara Shepherd, Helen Obermeyer Simmons, Virginia Tate, and Steve Watson.
The show will run through September 15th in the Art Gallery on the Lower Level.
